Mumbai; 4th September 2015: Arshi
Khan who reached Mumbai today morning has registered a complaint at the Malad
police station in suburban Mumbai today, in addition to a complaint that was
filed in Bhopal yesterday, stating that she has been getting several vulgar,
abusive and threatening calls from various unknown phone numbers. Initially the
calls were more of the harassment type, but the situation has now gone out of
hand, with several threatening calls, including “death threats” and
"threats to deface my face with acid, etc" with most of the calls
originating from across the border, she has alleged.
“I have got several
threatening calls which seem to come from Karachi and Lahore in Pakistan, over
the last two days. They have threatened to kill me because they claim that I am
a disgrace to Islam, etc., I also got many abusive and threatening messages on
Facebook, which I have ignored,” Arshi alleged adding that the media considers
the entire episode a "publicity stunt" which it is not. "This is
not any publicity stunt. I do not need to do such stupid things merely for
publicity. I come from a very rich family and by the grace of God, I have lots
of work. I am shooting almost every day," she added. She submitted a
written complaint to the Sr Inspector of Malad Police Station along with copies
of the same complaint to the additional commissioner and the Mumbai police
commissioner Shri Rakesh Maria. Arshi is scheduled to leave for Hyderabad
tonight for another Telugu film shoot.
It may be recalled that Arshi
Khan has been in and out of the news recently for her linkup with Pakistani
cricketer Shahid Afridi with an Indian website claiming that Arshi Khan and
Afridi shared an intimate relationship. The website also released some print
screens of alleged chat conversations between Arshi Khan and, most of them
international with 3-4 calls originating from Dubai numbers and another 2 calls
from Karachi today. The calls which began two days ago, have continued through
the last day.
A print-screen (below) of one of
the numbers from which a threatening and vulgar call was made shows that ,
which Arshi Khan submitted to the police today. Police sources said an FIR will
be registered after recording Arshi Khan’s statement and scrutinizing all the
material evidence submitted by her.
According to Arshi Khan, “The
calls began when a local website released some alleged print-screen images of
chat messages which the website claimed were exchanged between Arshi Khan and
Pakistani cricketer Shahid Khan Afridi. The website has claimed that in a sting
operation, they had caught Arshi Khan and cricketer Shahid Afridi red-handed at
a 7-star-hotel in Dubai.”
The Bhopal police have registered
an NC (non-cognizable complaint) and are investigating. The police say they
cannot do much as the calls are all from across the border. However, Arshi
claims that she also got calls from Meerut J&K and Delhi, but the police do
not want to register an FIR (First Information Report) and only registered an
NC.
